Hello all! My name is Aster, I'm very new to this site, though something strange happened to me and I'd like other viewpoints on what it could be.

To begin I'd like to say I really love the paranormal. I'm a believer of ghosts and other entities through experiences I've had in the past. I still try to remain open-minded of course. I also sometimes do things like this that are not the best idea and I hope you can forgive me.

So last night I had the urge to create and use a ouija board. Maybe not the safest thing to do, but I did it anyway, cause previously mentioned, I don't always have good ideas. I said a good prayer, set my intentions, and made it clear I would not be speaking with anything harmful or inviting that into my home.

Now putting aside the recklessness of doing this alone and in my home, I didn't get anything that seemed malicious. Just conversed with two seemingly fine spirits who just wanted to talk or needed some help.

Nothing "bad" happened. It just got weird when I went to sleep. I had this state where I was dreaming, but it feels like a strange memory, I could feel my body and it was like I was moving but I wasn't.

I felt like I was using the board. I heard a spirit talking to me, I can't remember what was said but it was sad. I wanted her to cross over fully and be at peace so I did a thing I had experienced before; I "took her on", then released her. I don't know how else to explain it.

It felt like shivers and tingles and strange emotions and voices had come over me, there was a brief struggle, then she... released, out and away from me and said something like a thank you. Then I fell asleep.

It was strange and blurry and it was vivid at the time but hard to recall. I know it wasn't at all a normal dream. I have experienced this feeling before when using a ouija board with my friends, where one of them (very sensitive to these things) had a spirit basically attaching to her and I held her hands and instructed her to release this spirit. It was a buzzing energy through all of this, then a heaviness lifted from the room and my friend said the spirit said thank you.

It was similar to that, just more intense on my part. I believe the spirit was young, not one of the ones I spoke with previously.

If anyone knows what this could be, what it means, or what exactly I did, please let me know. This isn't necessarily scaring me, I'm just very interested.

Thank you so much and I'm very happy to join this forum <3

First things first. Read the section in this link on Ouija boards immediately. The fact you can tell us that you know it's not a smart thing to do but did it anyway tells me you have some growing to do in the knowledge of the paranormal world.

PNF Suggestions for Paranormal Activity Problems

Second part of this. What you describe doing is highly unusual because it is highly dangerous The taking in of souls/spirits and then the release of them reminds me of a practice of "cleansing a soul" of sins by absorption. This was normally a symbolic act of a sin eater, but you may be doing it in spirit form. Whenever you take a spirit or soul within you, you place yourself at extreme risk of attachments and also an entity leaving something behind. You are 18. Think about this.

I know I'm coming off sounding rather harsh with you. It's because I wish to protect you from yourself right now. You may have many skills still coming forth, but the first thing a novice needs to learn is to have some control and to learn all they can about the paranormal before they try out their abilities, especially in this particular area of spirit entanglement.

My best advice for you is to learn about these things before you act on them. I hope you will use the forum to learn a few things, ask more questions, etc, but please realize this is serious stuff you are interacting with out there.

Thank you for this reply! I know somewhat of spirits and the spiritual world, though you're right in saying that I don't know enough. I will not be using a board again, at least not anytime soon, when, like you said, maybe I have more knowledge? Maybe not even then. It wasn't something I do necessarily for fun, I'm just so interested in the paranormal and spiritual world, I'd love to reach out and learn more and even help if I can.

This makes a lot of sense, though. I will make sure to be very careful in the future. I am curious, would a spirit box be a better alternative? Or are they just as dangerous? And if I want to learn more, do you know of a good starting place? Again, thank you so much for the reply. <3

I'll also be looking into some of the things you've mentioned about "sin eaters" and "cleansing a soul". I'll also be avoiding doing that again. And another question if it's alright, what should I do if something like this were to happen again? With the strange dream?

You need to learn how to "shield" yourself against them. I don't know your spiritual beliefs and I try to work within them when advising someone, so you will have to let me know where you stand on that. Another thing to learn is how quantum physics is showing us that intention makes a difference in our reality. It plays large in dealing with the paranormal. I'm going to suggest you get Dean Radin's book on Real Magic. It helps explain a lot of the basics of the paranormal world. I would start with that for a base as it will help you understand many basics.

Spirits...entities...spirit boxes....stop using tools until you know how to wield them safely.

I definitely will take this advice. Personally, I'm open to most things, I don't really have a "set" religion or spirituality or anything. I have some beliefs, like how spirits are real, but besides that I'm willing to try most new things.

Intentions are at the root of everything. Intentions/prayers work to move energy and raise shields around you to keep out entities from coming into the dream state. Takes some practice. In that link I left you, there is the St. Michael's Prayer. It is used universally in most religions as a prayer of protection. My advice to you is use it daily, especially as you begin to learn your way on this path.

Aster, I am now of Wise Crone age. Once, many years ago, a woman mentor yanked my chain and said "If you really want to learn, you really want to do good in this world, stop playing with your abilities and start learning what you need to know to use it well and for the Light.." My father also told me this and he was very talented in the dream state area. I'm going to pass that along to you and consider your chain yanked.

Thank you so much for this help. It really means a lot. I'll be writing down the prayer and keeping it so I don't forget it, and I will be looking into the book you mentioned. I'll also be way more careful. <3

Hi Aster. Debi has given you good advice. I dabbled in my teenage years with a Ouija board and had a heck of a time with activity for a long time. So please use care.

    Welcome to the forum.

Aster, welcome aboard. There's lots to learn here and I would just add the caveat of going slowly.
I'm 52 and haven't sought out the paranormal since my mid-twenties.*
That's not to say that it doesn't seek me out through dreams or waking Life. In that case I have learned how to discern whether to heal it or shoo it.;)
    * I tipped a table with 5 very learned practitioners, and I was number 6. The table tapped out that Jesus was there. Hmmmm. Well I certainly didn't feel the Holy Spirit. Well if some spirit ,or worse, wants to go around masquerading as Jesus....

Let's just leave it at this. I can see how many people can be fooled to their extreme detriment.
    Otherwise have a nice day:)
