Never had it with salt in my life! It's not something that would ever have occured to me. Is it an American tradition?

I don’t think it’s a tradition but we do eat a lot of here. It’s just a preference.

I love watermelon too.

I recently learned the trick of how to pick a nice ripe one. Look for the one with the biggest yellow patch on the rind. That means it has been ripening on the vine the longest. The ones that are all green with no yellow were harvested too soon to be fully ripe.
