Drinking and skiing are a fab mix. Kinda a similar story Paint about wrong assumptions and skiing. I’m not very athletic and I have terrible balance. When I was 17, three friends who were all really good skiers took me on a trip with them. I’d never skied on snow before but had practices a few times before on grass. My friends all told me that they’d teach me; the reality is they dropped me off at the bunny slopes and left. I was so furious with feelings of betrayal. I turned that pain inwards and practiced very aggressively all day long. When they came to pick me up at the end of the day, I asked for them to take me to the top of the mountain. I feel off the chair lift reminding them of my novice level, but when we got to the top of the run, I launched off ahead of them...and gave them all a real surprise with my signifcant growth acquired without their help.
