Note from Debi

I promised you guys an update as to what happened. Bob, the mods and staff are aware, but for those of you curious, here's the story line in short version.

I had two different types of flu back to back at the first of the year and have not been well since that point. Yes, I did all the doctor stuff, we tried many treatments, the usual and with no positive results. I kept declining. All my bloodwork was fine, but I kept loosing weight and actually passing out at times. No apparant reason. I had an appointment with a lung specialist, as I have asthma, on Tuesday morning. I was trying to wait and just get to that appointment.

Late Sunday night, early Monday morning, things went bad fast. I could not breathe at all. My system went into respiratory collapse. When I got to the hospital I was purple/blue with a heart ready to explode. I was very lucky to have the team I did at the hospital. The respiratory therapist on duty is an old, old friend who knew me and my history. I call him the Wizard. (Don't tell anyone...he actually is.) Due to some really fast work, I'm still here.

The specialist let me know that I am now identified as the 4th case in the area that has now been identified tracing back to that second type of flu to have this syndrome hit them. They are strarting to watch for more of us now. This may be a new problem connected directly back to it. When I asked her what lab it escaped from, she didn't laugh at me. Not even a smirk...more of a little nod. Who knows, but what I'm now fighting is being thrown into a COPD situation that is quite severe. It is taking full time high dose support oxygen right now to keep me level, but I am at home with 54 feet of tubing attached to a concentrator to trip over now. I also have 10 large back up tanks in case the lights go out. That gives me time to get to the hospital for support 02 if needed. There is hope for improvement as we go along in recovery from this. As it's such a new thing, no one really has answers yet.

You may also find it ironic as I do that I now get to share the same disease that killed Art Bell. But here's how I'm looking at this, folks. I'm still here. Life will have to adjust a bit to a new way of me living in it, but essentially, have laptop will forum. I'm still here because the angel that stopped by to see me in ER said I'm not done here yet. We'll talk more about that angel later when I'm ready. Meanwhile, I will slowly get back in the groove but this may take just a bit longer than a few days as I deal with new meds and gain back some of my energy. Almost dying is a LOT of work! Sheesh! My sense of humor has stayed intact, and I plan on loving every minute of my time here on this side. No place better to be than here with my friends and family.

Thank you for all the prayers, and please, keep me in them if you would. To those of you who sent in a donation, thank you so much. My new meds are pricey and not having to worry about covering forum expense is a great help right now. I'll keep you guys posted as we go along this new path of my life.

Love, light and blessings to all!

Mine too , we can’t live without you now

Lynne is right. No pressure. Actually I don't think it's all that a bad idea for you to feel pressure to care for your health as a priority for yourself, and MOST importantly, for US!
;)

so happy you are coming back!

I will keep the prayers coming. I am thankful that you are home and are being treated. You've made a huge impact in my life as of late and I don't want to see you on the other side of the veil. You have to live forever!
