Recently I've been overcome with the urge to encounter spirits, faeries, angels, etc but mostly things told in native legend.
I've been looking into creatures and beings told of Anishinaabe stories as that group of people was most prominent in my area but I wonder if I'd be wasting my time looking for anything among the marshes and streams of my nearby forest.
Would I find anything at all? Even a brief glance of a spirit?

Also I'm interested in hearing about any legends or stories of the indigenous people of your area no matter the continent

If you go to the woods, go with an open heart and mind, honoring Mother Earth. Then just be still and listen. Search for nothing, as it's all around you. They contact you....you do not contact them.

That is a quote from my Native American father.

I think you will find something in nature maybe not the first time maybe not the 10th time but I would start working on yourself and your own thoughts and intentions (not saying you are a bad person just saying to focus on being a better more spiritual person). The more connected you are the more efficient your visits will be.

I would bring the standard supplies as a gift, something you treasure. It can be anything but make sure it is something that is valuable to you that you are okay giving to the native spirit. I used a silk bag and my valuable item, then I put tobacco from my cigarette. I would not go skimpy on the tobacco get some nice tobacco if you can, maybe even some flavored pipe tobacco so it smells good. Some sage or palo santo or some incense. Maybe some water if you have a tiny carrier, again make sure you are giving them some clean perfect water not some mud water. Maybe even do a blessing on it. I also put som crystals or stones in the bag. Flint would be a good addition of course. Maybe add your favorite seasonings and spices. Add whatever you feel.

I live on an enchanted hill used by native Americans that is a few hundred yards from a collection of rivers. I walked to the top of the sacred hill (I just know in my heart this hill was used for that), gathered soil from the sacred hill and put that in as well.

Glad you lived to tell the tale. I have heard they are quite dangerous and territorial.

Wow did you high tail it out of there? I remember on the skin walker episode of ghost adventures their guide had an AR15.

What did the scream sound like Bigfoot or different?

No, You know what a howler monkey sounds like? Well I went looking for it but I couldn't find anything, just footprints that slowly turned from a man's to a cyote's.

So you didn’t actually see it? You heard the scream and saw prints?
