so, she only dated the guy 3 times and already has gone through his personal documents, photos and papers, and sat outside on the street at 4am scoping out his residence.....sounds like she is trying to find something way to hard, or shes actually stalking him....lol.

Just perhaps - He is a drugs dealer, takes PCP or similar that would keep him awake and has fabricated a fake ID as a completely different person and has stolen the identity of someone who looks like him?
This would explain most of it - as well as the private investigators building a case on him.
Being in a small band would be a good cover to go to most nightclubs and always be on the road. Easy to make money and keep a low profile.
