This experience happened shortly after I finished high school. So I got into this relationship with a girl I had been friends with for a while, and she once told me her dad (who passed away a few years prior to the relationship) was ultra-strict with her when it came to going out or relationships.
So a few weeks into the relationship, strange things started to happen in her house. The first time I visited her house it had a really positive atmosphere about it, and absolutely no history of paranormal activity. The one day I was helping her with some work in the study and we had the door closed. She asked me to take a look at something on her laptop, so I stood behind her and as I placed my hand on her shoulder, we both heard the door click and saw it open slowly. I closed the door and tested to see if I could make it open like that again, but it was solid. I closed the door again making sure it was closed properly and the same thing happened again. When I looked outside there was no one near the study. A few days after that incident, also in the study, a book fell off the bookshelf and I was assured the book was placed properly on the shelf (and seeing that the other books were placed properly on the shelf, I can believe it).
Another incident was the one night I went with her and her family to this evening function. Me and her left the function a bit early so we were alone at her place. So we were lying on the bed together watching TV, and the next thing both of us hear the plates in the kitchen being handled and then one of the kitchen cupboard doors being closed. We were a bit startled by this because her family would have called out to say they were home. So I grab her hockey stick and go investigate the kitchen and found no one home. I checked the house out but no one appeared to be present.
Whenever I made any physical contact with my girlfriend (now ex) at her house, these types of phenomena would take place and would also be experienced by those present at the time. And that's why I think it could have been her dad maybe letting us know he's still watching.
At the end of the year, we decided to end the relationship and go back to just being friends, and she said no paranormal activity has occurred since then. It was these series of events that brought to my attention the possibility that some places, like my school (see The Haunting of 2006/2007) were not really haunted, but more likely that I was attracting the activity without knowing it.
