I'm about to get a 5 gallon bucket and pack chicken water all winter trying to keep them from freezing is a really stupid endeavor

Um....they make small heaters for water, ya know. I used to use one with my chickens.

Yup, they do. We used to haul fresh from the house tap in buckets, then use the heater in the coop. We also used a warming light in the coop.

If you get one of the collapsible hoses, and bring it in after use, you can drain it enough to store it inside until next use.

We have a frost free not far from the coop I just as soon pack the water even in winter it isn't far maybe 20 feet
