3-28-2021 Sunday Live Chat

I hope your home life calms down so that you have the chance to do the same.

I hope that the weather isn’t being too threatening. I know that the hurricanes always increase my anxieties.
The weather here has definitely increased my anxieties as of late. We've had two tornado outbreaks in just over a week and there have been fatalities. Homes have been completely destroyed and so have lives. I had a feeling we maybe in for it given the deep freeze a month and a half ago, and I wasn't far off. We've had our fair share of severe weather here, but nothing in the form of any tornadic activity lately. Hopefully it won't be as bad as they're predicting this year. If at all.

Thanks for educating me for what’s happening there Lone.

The nighttime tornado Watch and Warning announcements drive me right into the first floor bathroom.

I remember standing outside in my front driveway a few years ago when a tornado warning was issued at night of all times. Our neighbor was outside in his driveway as well. But the air was perfectly still and it was nighttime. No rain but it was almost too quiet until we heard something that sounded just like a locomotive about a half mile down the road. It didn't take us even half a second to look at one another and we made a run for it.

I think it passed within a few miles of us, but the roaring sound we heard was indeed a freight train that was still passing through. Conductors/engineers have to work in all sorts of weather and while that was a relief, it was the most frightening moment I've ever had. Tornadoes at night are a lot harder to spot and even more so if they're rain wrapped. The northwestern/eastern half of the state was under the gun today, but I haven't heard any more reports yet. But this is the third time in a week and a half we've been hammered. Texas. Arkansas. Louisiana. Tennessee. Mississippi. Alabama. Georgia. South Carolina and likely even more. It's tiring.

It's just best to be weather aware no matter the circumstance or history because they can and will develop out of nowhere. There was one such incident in Purvis, MS. April 24, 1908. It was only on the ground for a few minutes but it was a strong F4 and was about two to two and a half miles wide at the base. It leveled most of the town. 47 were killed (likely more) and 300 injured. Any type of severe weather is intimidating but these take it to a whole new level.

Tomorrow hubby gets his vaccine. Trying not to worry.

Lone, please be safe with all that crazy weather, and try to keep your spirits up.

Garnet, he's gonna do just fine. I had very little reaction to the first jab. Hubs had very little as well. Tired was about it for 24 hours.

Storytime! I have been up much of the night but was highly amused by a "visitor". At 3 AM, there he was sitting in my tub. Little bitty mouse looking at me like "Yo! Little help here!" Now, I have this giant round 80's tub. Me trying to help this thing would have made funniest home videos and probably won.

About 6 AM I gave up on the "gonna catch and release him outside" idea. He finally managed his great escape this morning. Right up a leg and over the side.

Now I have a mouse loose in the house...sigh.

I have never been close enough a tornado to hear it. I have seen a few and I saw some twisters out to sea, but we navigated away from them.
