Feds warn on Area 51

Let them storm away. How far do you think that they will get walking across 20 miles of desert flats through clouds of tear gas? And THAT is if the military is being nice.

Personally, I would like to think that there are not that many totally stupid people. The Military has very little in the way of a sense of humor when it comes to their Top Secret places. If they decided to just shoot them if they push it too far it would be a simple case of Evolution In Action. People seem to have a problem understanding that just because you want to know and see something doesn' give you the right to force your way into getting that. Someone might really want to see what I have in my bedroom. If they push open my front door and try to force their way in though I am going to shoot them.

I would like to know what they have there and while we are wishing I wonder what all the Vatican has hidden away in their vaults too. Me wishing doesn't mean that I have a RIGHT to know or see.

I think that a few hundred people would show up mostly just to see what the idiots are going to do. I figure there are probably going to be about 15 that are either stupid enough to push it to the point of arrest or stoned enough to do it. There are always a few with the "Hold my beer and WATCH THIS!" sort of attitudes. If there are cameras there that number will go up substantially. Some people seem to go totally stupid when you push a camera at them. They will do nearly anything for their 15 minutes of fame.

That is what I expect. The media these days is more about creating the action than reporting it. I have actually watched them do it. If a hundred people show up, even if most are there to see it rather than be a part of it they will bunch them up in front of the cameras and make it look like a big deal. Actually, it was a flop but you would never guess that if all you saw was what they show.

this would be the BEST time ever to use the "active denial system" (aka, heat ray) or any other secret "beam" type weapons....lol

Twenty years or so ago I sat through a DoD briefing on nonlethal weapons then under development. Don't know if they were ever fielded, but some of them would be applicable in a situation such as this if a large number of people were involved.

Bud Light will make Area 51 beer cans if they get 51K RTs

Bud Light says it will create a commemorative Area 51 beer can if they can get 51,000 retweets on Twitter.

The company announced on July 15 that they would not be sponsoring the Area 51 raid, but on Wednesday they offered something else.

Bud Light shared a photo of a black and neon green special edition of the beer can. There is also a generic alien-shaped head with a crown.

"We know of no space beer by any other life form which is brewed and aged to be more refreshing," the can reads.

The company said if the tweet gets 51,000 retweets on Twitter, they will make the special edition beer cans.

As of Thursday morning, the tweet had about 8,500 retweets.

I'd like to have been a fly on the wall when Budweiser's senior decision makers came to the conclusion this was a good idea. They may not be sponsoring the event, but they are clearly promoting it for corporate financial gain. They stand to be stained, if not sued, if the event turns out to be a clusterflop. This doesn't have to be a repeat of the 1968 Democratic Convention for people to be seriously injured or killed while participating in this ill-advised activity. I'm more worried about idiots getting lost and dying in the desert than I am security forces/law enforcement actions against "stormers." Hard to believe a company as brand/reputation conscious as Budweiser would even consider being associated with such an endeavor.
