Homes and energy

One odd thing that I remember that happened shortly after we purchased and moved into that house I mentioned: We were about to sit down to supper, when we were swarmed with these bugs. There were no open windows or doors, and yet within minutes the entire dining room was filled with them. We grabbed some fly swatters and started smashing them but always there were more. I felt that it was a bad omen, or a sign of unhealthy energy in that house. The really weird part was after that one time, in the three years we occupied that house, it never happened again. BTW, we learned that the bugs were called Asian cockroaches.
That right there would have sent me running out the door! lol

Lol, I can understand that! The only reason we didn't freak out, was because since it was a new place we figured we had overlooked some opening that the bugs could have entered through. It was years later when I read that a sign of paranormal activity can actually be unexplained swarms of bugs - where it is impossible for them to have gotten in without a window or door being opened.

We get ants every Spring, and I serve them my special mixture of Borax and confectioners sugar.

Good point on the paranormal, however bugs can get in and lay eggs by the hundreds very easily. Small cracks in the foundation or basement is a common entryway.

That's true about the eggs possibly having been there. But the thing that puzzled me was that it only happened once! I would think that if these insects had established a habit of laying eggs there it would have been a constant thing. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seemed weird only happening once.

So, is this toxic to my doggies? If not, what's your mixture?
Yes, unfortunately it is toxic for dogs! Be careful that they can't get to it. I usually mix equal parts borax and confectioner's (powdered) sugar, and then I use jar lids to put a few spoonfuls in. I hide these deep in the kitchen cupboards if that is where I have seen the ants scouting around. That way there is no loose stuff lying around. We don't have dogs, but if I did, I would put the mixture up high where they couldn't get into it. This mixture usually clears ants off pretty quickly. I also keep a jar lidfull on the kitchen counter, way back in a corner. If you're worried about your dogs eating it, maybe you could make your own ant trap, something with holes in it that the ants can crawl in and out of but the dogs can't get to it.

Once the house was opened up and inhabited you may have broken the cycle by cleaning, changing the temperature, killing adult bugs etc. just a thought. Of course it could be something paranormal. If you don’t have any other infestations that’s great.
