Hello, as you may know I am new here, and I thought it was about time I get into one of my strange reoccurring experiences.
It has not happened as of late, (you will soon know why), but I have had consistent experiences of sleep paralysis in the past, mostly last year and the year before.
I do not get it in the traditional sense where I see beings or figures per se, and I only get it in specific circumstances.
So, to start, It always seems to start typically enough. I suddenly become aware that I am conscious while I am laying down, but I can not move. Sometimes I can not open my eyes. I hear this very loud ringing in my ears which moves and intensifies when I attempt to move.
Oddly enough, before it happens, I have this reoccurring theme of feeling like, or perhaps dreaming of, a boat. It is not very coherent as a dream and does not have a story, and most of the time I can not see it, but I still have this somehow inherent knowledge that I was on a boat but have fallen off, and am now trying to stay above the waves and not drown.
It is hard to explain. It's like I am currently in a dream but I am also conscious, and I can not see anything.
A few times after this has happened, I can open my eyes in short bursts (not fully) before they are shut closed again, seemingly against my will.
In the moments I can open my eyes, I see this thing. I have throught very hard how to describe it and words still escape me, so please bear with me.
It looks like a static-like black cloud or mass, its form and composition constantly changing. It moves rapidly but seems to stay in the same general area, just shaking. It is floating just off my bed in the air, to my side. When I stare at it, it's almost as if it's some kind of portal, with words and numbers flowing in and out of it, though I can not make out any of them. It seems very charged with energy.
I break out of the paralysis while my eyes are closed and the ringing stops, the being does not linger, it all ends at once.
Oddly enough, the only fear or stress I feel during these episodes are from trying to snap out of the paralysis. The static i feel in my limbs and the ringing in my ears is naturally uncomfortable. The mass I see does not scare me, though thinking about it outside the episodes does cause me stress.
Finally, these I would maybe brush off if not for the odd consistency with the circumstances that are needed for it to happen.
In my room, there is a small crawlspace that goes up into the ceiling. The entrance to which is only big enough for an adult to just squeeze through, and is covered only by a modestly sized wooden plank that is fitted over the top from the inside. It is not secured with anything, so often when I open the windows during the warmer months, the wind blows the cover off the opening and the crawl space is exposed.
It is not at all furnished, not like an attic, has exposed insulation and beams and such. Not used for storage or anything even. Not much up there except maybe a mouse or two and a lot of dust. No lighting. Not at all sure why there is an entrance to it in my room, or why it's open at all.
My sleep paralysis only seems to happen when the crawl space or my bedroom door is open, and only during the day when I nap. Does not ever happen when I lay down to sleep at night. Day time only, and only if either my door, or my crawl space happens to be open.
That is why it has not happened since last year, as it has been the cold months and my window has been constantly shut. But with the weather warming up, I theorize if the crawl space keeps getting blown open again while I have a day nap, it will begin happening again.
Very sorry for the lengthy post, I wanted to be as detailed as possible. Open to any thoughts or theories, and happy to answer questions. I have not written anything of this sort before so I hope it is alright.
Thank you kindly.
