I - 10 , not anymore , have to use US 54 and 70 in NM which joins I 10 IN las Cruces , that's the way I usually go if I am heading south , plus you have the border patrol checkpoints to deal with also .

As usual, you're right! It was 1-40! I've driven both but it's been a few years now.
