I like the way Connie Willis worked out the time paradox in her time travel novels. They travelers weren't allowed to change anything significant because Time didn't allow it.

Perhaps time travel is possible without multiverses and we can exist in different time at the same time. That would make big changes really significant. Perhaps we have changed things but we do not remember. This would also mean we could meet and visit with our younger selves.
