That Lost Civil War Gold

I have followed this story somewhat for a while. I really think the treasure hunter was tricked. They told him there was nothing there and then came in the night and excavated it. The whole thing was very suspect. I think he was cheated. They could have at least let him have the glory and given him a finder's reward. I hope the truth comes out at some point.

It really did look like they excavated the area under clandestine means. That gold was not an artifact but worth a lot of money. Someone wanted a fortune.
