Limestone County sheriff's deputies say a domestic incident in Elkmont ended with several dead chickens and a young man in jail.

The charges are against 18-year-old Haden Smith. Deputies say Smith's mother called them after he sent her threatening texts and killed her chickens. Deputies say Smith texted her Thursday morning saying he would kill a chicken every fifteen minutes unless she contacted his girlfriend's parents and mended his relationship with his girlfriend.

He gave her a deadline of noon until the chicken massacre started, deputies say. He also threatened to burn her house down, kill any responding deputies and kill himself, according to the sheriff's office.

Smith killed six chickens before he was arrested. He texted his mother photos of a dead chicken every fifteen minutes, deputies say.

Smith was arrested and charged with third-degree domestic violence and third-degree criminal mischief.

First, mentally ill and/or spoiled kid goes to jail as an adult, hopefully. Then somebody better find a straightjacket to go with the restraining order. Mom needs a gun now as does the girlfriend and her parents.

Starts with hurting animals and moves directly into killing people. Personally, I hope they throw away the key cuz he's going to continue to be a threat. If that was all it took to set him off, he's ready to kill something more than chickens!

Yep, he's going to be a repeat offender, with more serious crimes each time. And I agree, nothing good in those eyes!

What's wrong with our kids you ask? The breakdown of the GD family. Absentee parenting as usually 2 parents working from birth, or 1 parent households only, with a menagerie of boyfriends and/or girlfriends traipsing through. An education system that is defunct and useless, essentially unraveling down to a holding tank or multi-age daycare. A school system where everything is acceptable and everyone a winner. A piss poor economy that doesn't inspire hope or opportunity, and encourages the entitlement ideology where the schools left off. When our children are raised by strangers, and they don't see the values at home or at very least taught to them at school, this is what happens. Lord knows there are NO values found anymore on TV or social media and this is where we used to get our values in the 80s & 90s. No children read anymore, this is a rarity & was the second place we got our values. 3rd place was mom/dad and or grandma/grandpa...but as we discredit our elders and make them jokes in this society that too has become lost. Breakdown of family again because we used to live in multi generational groups! Which eliminated the need for childcare & ensured the spread of family values...:::steps off soap box:::

I agree... Most serial killers start with animals... Cats and dogs usually and go up from there... I agree his mom and his ex and family shoul all move without forwarding addresses! And mom, KUDOS for alerting authorities and going thru with it!!!
