Swimming

I nearly drowned at 12 at a dangerous beach. I remember going under for the third time when an older surfer pulled me onto his board. I just remember feeling totally calm when drowning.
Always heard the waters surrounding Australia were treacherous. Newfoundland had some crazy undertow/suction.

I can't remember a time when I couldn't swim. I grew up boating on lakes and swimming, jet skiing, tubing down the rivers, going to the old Rock quarries, canoeing, whitewater rafting with my buddies. I started surfing at 13. Rivers and oceans are dangerous. Currents, riptides, flash floods.
I'm not as good as I was in my younger days, but I'm still pretty good.

We grew up with a pool and I can swim ok. I also took it in college. I don't know how long I would last out on a lake or ocean though. I would just end up doing the safety float, not a lot of stamina anymore.
