Space Station Trash hits house

If that had hit my house, there is no way I'd have given it up to NASA (or anyone else) without a court order. I'd have let them take all the photos they wanted, but until the damage claim was adjudicated, I'd have kept it. If all else failed (like a legal liability urinating contest between NASA and some third party as suggested in the article), he could sell it to one of the many space program collectors around the world.

I wouldn't expect a reentry object-turned 3000-degree fireball that "Tore through the roof and went thru 2 floors." to look like a near-perfect cylinder with no signs of charring and no apparent burn damage to the house. But, NASA said it, so it must be true.

I didn't read anything about NASA paying for the guy's home damage! It's a good thing it didn't kill anyone. NASA and anyone else sending stuff up there really needs to make sure the sky won't be falling. Jeeze that would be terrible to be hit with something random like that.
