Mysterious Darkness

Creepy stuff. Maybe a huge dust cloud (caused by what?) that blew over with the dust settling mostly in the vast wilderness but seen by some, explaining the conflicting reports. But what caused it? The reports of military activity would suggest that it wasn't wildfires. Something big crashing into the ground out in the middle of nowhere and the wind carrying the dust kicked up over an inhabited area?

The strange thing is it was dark like night. I’d think the sun would filter in some light through dust.
