I can see the argument from both sides. When an artist sees something, he is compelled to create. Historians on the other hand like to preserve the natural surroundings.

Not sure, but perhaps that crack was there before the artist started his carving; perhaps the crack happened during the carving. Ha, perhaps Merlin wanted to talk.
