I think the lifespan depends on the species but it is the lifespan of the fruit we are talking about because the roots in the soil in some places on earth has had roots alive for very very long amounts of time. So possibly centuries, though the fruits only last a few days.very interesting. what is the life span of a mushroom?
i had one growing in my house thru the floor. it was pretty. took a pic. can't find the pic. i think i deleted it.

It's an awesome experience I don't touch them or pick them just photograph and this is the life cycle of the fruit.
