I have hibiscus trees in the front yard. Are the flowers safe for boiling in a tea?

I get hibiscus tea at the supermarket. That doesn't stain my cups. Also, some of the hibiscus flowers are white. Or purple.

That's because they've been dried first. You can dry yours between paper towels in the microwave and then crush and use.

Yes, it's the oils in them, from my understanding. Once you dry the petals, you dry those oils up a bit. Even heating them back up doesn't cause them to stain after you dry them for some reason. I used to combine hibiscus with chamomile or mint....pretty good stuff!
