Scientist Takes First-Ever Photo of Rare Bird, Then Kills It in the Name of Science

The team snapped the first-ever photos of the remarkably photogenic bird and made the first-ever recordings of a male variety of the species (a female was described back in the 1920s).

Then the team killed it.

All in the name of "science". Explains my "love" of scientists sooo well! (sarcasm button on full)
 
I find this story very very sad...
Hey, I always had the idea those "bird nuts" would consider such an action as a deed worthy of the death penalty ....
I KNOW Mr. Wison ( Dennis "the Menace's" neighbor ) would have certainly have had all of them thrown out of his "bird watchers club" and probably blacklisted everywhere !
