With Christmas coming at us, you can't ignore the many goodies that come with it. Nothing brings back childhood memories like a plate of Christmas cookies! Around here, the "favorites" are something called Kolache with apricot filling.

It's just not Christmas unless this is on the plate. The other favorite is the Peanut Butter Kiss cookie.

Next week I shall begin the cookie cooking madness to keep tradition alive! What foods say "Christmas" to you?

Okay, just remember that it was you who started this one! :D

There are several holiday treats I look forward to at Christmas. My wife makes a killer red velvet cheesecake, and I enjoy a slice of plain old fruit cake; and yes, I am that one guy who likes fruit cake. Just one piece, though, and then I'm done until next year! A nice, thick slice of Povitica also goes down just fine with a cup of coffee. We're still ordering from the place we bought from in Missouri because none of the bakeries in Little Rock seem to have heard of it , and my wife doesn't have time to make it. At least that's what she tells me!

OMG! You have a source for Povitica!!! I knew there was a reason I broke my own rule about food threads!!! Do you KNOW how long I've looked for a place that makes this??? I lost my grandma's recipe years ago, so this is the find of the year for me! :D:D:D

See? Food threads are good things! ;)

Okay, there are two links. The first one is for a place located in Kansas, not far over the state line from Missouri. We could buy their Povitica in the local Hy-vee grocery stores, and it is amazing. The draw back is price, and then the shipping on top of that.

The second link is a place about twenty-five miles NW of Kansas City. We also bought their product locally, but the price is better. Ordering from their website is more affordable too. Their Povitica is good, but I like the other one better because there is more variety.

I also love Christmas cookies, like thumprint cookies, gingerbread cookies and any cookies shaped like candy canes!
