Respectfully, Paul, I think you've made some assumptions that aren't always the case.

Communication with a spirit does not ipso facto lead to the caveats that this thread is about, from my experience.

Your mileage may vary, and I do think it has more to do with frame of mind than equipment or method. Fear is what opens doors, not equipment.

I advise all who are afraid of investigations, please stay away. They are not for you. Stick with the TV shows.

I don't believe in paranormal devices in the sense of the device having any true paranormal connection. All things that I have dealt with in the paranormal are simply tools for focusing the mind on specific things and directions. My favorite paranormal tool is a well-handled deck of tarot cards. I have also used a gazing ball a few times but seen to have better results from just closing my eyes and allowing my mind to open and drift into the odd nooks and crannies.

The human mind seems to operate partway in this reality and part in what I perceive as several other realms. To me, the paranormal is like a house with many mansions inside. One may lead you into the future, another into the past. There is one that seems to allow you to somehow contact others, some living and some dead. I sometimes wonder if at this level there is any difference between living and dead. Sometimes it can help you find or know things that you have no reasonable way to know about.

When most people are kids they are told that these things are in their imagination and it is discouraged, sometimes harshly as if you are lying about things. I suspect that a lot of the imagined things that kids talk about when they were little are more paranormal manifestations than imagination.

I had a lot of those sort of things happen to me when I was little. My dad seemed to accept it and just listen to me but my Mom was scared by it and discouraged me from talking about it. I noted that my great-grandfather that played a big role in my Dad's life was a waterwitch. He was paid by the county to find places for water wells. He also would witch warts off of you. It seems to have skipped a couple of generations. Neither my father nor grandfather seemed to be touched by this sort of thing.

no, intent and invitation is what opens doors, regardless of the tool used. at the basic level the tool is really not even in the equation, its the invitation that has meaning, the tool is just a focal point. but that is what most never consider. im just more old school i guess with this, thats why i dont search for these things. but not knowiing what they truly are is the best reason to proceed with caution to start with.... this is the disconnect from old school to the new way of doing this that ive touched on in other threads concerning psychic abilities. everyone would rather start off at the top instead of learning from the beginning kinda stuff.. but hey like i said everyone has their own ways and ideas of how to do things.... admittedly over and over i dont hunt "ghosts" and i wish all those who do good luck and hope nothing bad comes from it, but there is always a steady stream of ppl who come running for advice on how to fix their carelessness and mess ups....lol

Well, I respectfully disagree. From my experience, communication and observation by themselves do not lead to nefarious spirit activity or possession. It's not a concrete cause-and-effect.

Not using any paranormal gear and being unfamiliar with the physics behind it puts you at a disadvantage when discussing it, therefore I will bow-out of this thread since it's now a "gut feel" issue and those can't be argued.

Walking into the lion's den here with an opinion and a few points.

Devices are tools. It depends on the user what happens with them. There can be a difference in intention when you use them. Both of you have points, but the difference I see here is:

Invitation vs. exploration.

Anyone can walk into a home with a negative spirit and have it attach without intention or invitation. This is called a hitchhiker. So the risk can happen without intention.

Tools can be used to measure the abnormal/changes in all sorts of things, with no intention of inviting a spirit interact, despite the provoking seen on most TV shows. Tools can be used to check for EMF from furnaces and wiring, etc. Air pressure changes can be measured. Temp. changes can be measured. The tools are not dangerous so I would argue the title of this thread sets a false tone that presumes they are.

When passively measuring and looking for evidence that presents itself, that is exploration. Now, if someone walks in with a Ouija Board and starts inviting things to come on in, that's where risk takes place and portals tend to open. That is invitation through intention.

empaths can actually project, as well as receive energies. an advanced empath can manipulate energy they recieve and use it for their own will.
Paul, where did you hear about this? I am intrigued.

I had an experience with the paranormal about 8 years ago that I would love to hear what others think about t, Or what has happened to them.
So I had a relative who wanted to go ghost hunting in a big way. I watched a few ghost shows back then but not like now. I knew nothing about it and thought it would be fun. My partner in this suggested we buy some ghost hunting equipment so we could join a local group which advertised their exploits. I was kind of scared of the whole thing to be honest so was holding back a little. We ordered something called the ghost hunter pro off of amazon then the obvious bad ideas started coming. She came over after they came and said lets try them out. I said ok . We went to a friends house and used them and they worked great. Some very dosturbing and strong hits on both of them. We left and thought nothing of it until a few days later the person whose house agreed for us to try it out on complained of stuff going missing and he having bad dreams!. He has the house blessed and smudged the crop out of it and things went back to normal. IYO does th use of paranormal devices encourage paranormal things to happen, both good and bad.
Just my opinion but from what I know of the subject and with personal experience too, I would say definitely. You are giving permission for involvement.
