I love the fact that an altar to Pan was found in that church. Most churches in Europe were built on ancietn pagan sites I believe. Religions evolve just like people maybe. This excavation is now focusing on figuring out how this pagan altar came to be part of the church wall and what the inscription on it means.
I think repurposing buildings is just easier than building new ones. This was a cool find. It’s amazing how artifacts last through the ages.
