Acronyms

that IS another topic , that along with just different words to describe things or nicknames, grunt, leg, squid, etc.... two phonetic words i still use a lot are CHARLIE MIKE, and ALPHA MIKE FOXTROT... just 2 that stuck with me for different reasons...lol
CHARLIE MIKE was a favorite of a former colleague, a retired USAF E-8. He was probably the hardest working, most focused, driven guy I ever worked with.

was he by any chance a former or trained PJ specialist ? ... CHARLIE MIKE is a term used commonly in spec war groups.

No, he had been an aircraft maintainer, did three tours in SEA. His last job before retiring was as the maintenance supervisor for an F-111 wing.

Putting them politely (you will get an idea of what banned words should fit. If not, they begin with the same letter.....):

TARFU - Things Are Really Fluffed Up (can also be, Totally And Royally Fluffed Up)
SNAFU - Situation Normal, All Fluffed Up
FUBAR - Fluffed Up Beyond All Recognition

There is another stage beyond FUBAR, and that is SFUINEF (sfoo-in-ef) - So Fluffed Up It's Not Even Funny!!
Thanks you saved me 15 min of googling lol

I use many acronyms daily when I write up my patient notes... here are some of them (with the explanations!):

MH - medical history (you can even shorten "history" to "hx", although that's not an acronym as such)
STE - soft tissue examination
NAD - nothing abnormal detected
CO - complains of (as in the patient)
OE - on examination
DNA - did not attend
FTA - failed to attend
ANK - appointment not kept
NV - next visit
TCA - to come again

There are dozens more but these are enough to be going on with!
