OK, so here we go. I just googled search results for paranormal forums and found this board last Friday before I joined on Saturday, and much with everyone else here, I've had a few experiences (but haven't really seen anything) that just can't be explained. Think of it as a real life X-File, but it goes.

I've lived in my current residence for the past 22 years and it's also my childhood home that I had left for about seven years given my dad's occupation at the time. It was built in 1960 and while it's basic, it has a sketchy history. The only story that I've been told was that a drug dealer turned police informant was murdered outside of the house in the storage room likely in the 60's and that could be the cause of the unrest if it's really even still here. As a child I could have sworn I saw something along the lines of an apparition walking towards my room.

It was more like a transparent, gray mist. Head. Shoulders. Everything else but I remember it only being the upper half of the torso I saw. Nothing else. It eventually vanished into thin air and I never saw it again, let alone felt it. But my late mother and my sister claimed they felt a presence in the house. But after awhile, we moved and returned a few years later with no problems.

My parents eventually moved out and left my the house and I didn't notice anything unusual for a few years until late last year for some unexplained reason. I saw flashing lights in the hallway (along the lines of strobe), the door across the hallway from me opened and closed by itself and heard it call me by my real name not once but twice. Sometimes I'd feel like I was being watched and just had the creeps. Had the hair stand up on the back of my neck and I didn't want to even go into the kitchen because I knew exactly where it was.

All of these events happened late last year and nothing has happened since then. But another interesting note is that I noticed the word 'kill' scribbled in what looked to be blood in the storage room where the informant may have been killed. But that's my experience, guys.

Interesting there appears to be a history for the home.

Many homes have some latent activity that just pops out of nowhere sometimes....for no known reason. We don't always know what the trigger is for it. It doesn't sound like it's residual, because it's not repeating the same actions each time.

I have to run off and cook supper right now, but more input from all as we go, I'm sure!

I find it interesting your name was called out. That sounds to me like you could be dealing with someone/something that knows you or had some personal connection with you. Could this be the spirit of a deceased family member or someone from your past associated with the house?

I've considered that a possibility. Only real explanation I can come up with.

Not that I'm aware of. These things just happened and so far, there hasn't been a repeat. Whatever it was, it wasn't malicious. It was just there.
That, actually, is quite a "normal" interaction with the paranormal. Usually these experiences are of a short duration and sporadic.

Anyone here ever heard of the St. Myrtle's plantation in St. Francisville, LA? It has the reputation of being one of the most haunted houses in the US. Sweet thing for me is, I'm only 162 miles away from it. And I want to go.

The Myrtle's is part of the very foundation of every ghost hunter's experience. We have some old threads here on it as well. The place is definitely an active haunting, with a few residual ghosts as well. Don't know how many of the ghost TV programs you've watched, but I'm pretty sure every one of them has investigated that place over the years.

Most of the paranormal TV shows have rotated through the plantation. Looks like a popular, well maintained tourist destination in that part of La.
