It's summer and people will be eating BBQ, Fair Food, and other delicious items.
And then there are some of us who look at those foods and can see only calories.
With the "summer bod" on many minds, do you still "diet"?
It seems to me many are just watching eating habits and not calling it dieting anymore, and with the new weight loss drugs it appears to be vanishing.
What is your approach?
Eating healthy with occasional indulgence or going for the full out "diet" approach?

With the exception of indulging in sweets here and there, I am mostly eating basic foods, such a fresh vegetables, fruits, meat and poultry from the farmer's market, etc. It makes more work to prepare, but is worth it. I have gotten very leery of prepared and convenience foods because they toss in a lot of unhealthy additives, such as high fructose corn syrup.

Since finding that I am pre-diabetic I am leery of indulging in foods that are contributing to it!

I live on a diet most of the time. When it comes to the occasional summer fairs though, I feel its worth the treat to eat the things I can't get the rest of the year. Sometimes you have to feed the soul. Bring on the elephant ears and funnel cakes.

I am seriously considering someone to go through the fair and pick up food for me this year. I haven't had any in over 7 years, and I want some!

Diet...I refuse to use the word anymore. I'm having enough trouble just keeping up with affording food much less dealing with trying for "healthy". I do my best, but it's a challenge in this day and age.

I agree, Debi. I used to have major issues with dieting, so I have come to dislike that word. I prefer "way of eating."
Much better. I see that several of the diet programs of the past are closing their doors. This new diet drug seems to be what everyone is flocking to, although it was initially meant as a diabetes drug and the demand for scripts has it in short supply. And the cost is just $700 a month! Nope, I already have a drug that costs that much!

I read about that drug and was tempted to try it, but both the cost, and the fact that it is causing shortages for those who really need it prohibits me.
At my age I'll just work at it the old style way...lol There's some mighty big side effects with that drug as well for people over 60. And once on it, you need to stay on it to not rebound.

Well, that will make a third reason not to take it. I have never had extra weight be so stubborn to take off. For three days I was so sick I could barely eat and that weight just hung on, lol.

LOL Oh, I feel ya, hon. My husband eats whatever he wants and never gains a pound. He doesn't eat much for a few days and drops 10#. Me? I can look at a cupcake online and gain a few.
