I heard a report you could possibly hit over 110 in Utah! Yikes!

110 is de rigueur for southern Utah in summer, but it's unheard of in the north, where we are. I've lived in this area 62 years and the hottest I remember was 106, and that was in August, 25 years ago or so. 104 in mid June is unprecedented in recorded weather history here... admittedly, that's only about 170 years, but still impressive in a scary way.

Am I the only one who thought a pony was a baby horse?

A pony is a horse that is under 14 hands. “Hands” is a measurement specifically used for horses. One hand is four inches, and a horse’s height is measured from the floor to its withers, which is the spot where their neck meets their back.

Who knew?!

Technically, a baby horse could be called a pony, I suppose... but its not common equestrian parlance.

Hey, that's right! If the baby is less than 14 hands! And why not use the foot measurement? Hands? You are kidding me! WHY is everything so complicated?"
