After recounting my “old hag” experience on another thread, I wanted to ask if anyone has experienced anything like the following:

Unlike old hag, who I’ve only experienced once thank goodness, I will have this same night terror at random intervals, usually for a couple of nights at a time. They’re not like nightmares for me, I actually enjoy a good nightmare, there’s a distinct difference in feel. A nightmare is like watching a movie on a cathode TV.

In these dreams or “terrors” I will wake up in bed and the attention to detail is unreal, from the dark shapes of furniture in the room with slight intrusion of the street light outside, to a book I was reading that night on the bedside table. I think I’m awake. I’m not a great sleeper and normally have trouble getting back off to sleep, so I’ll often just get up, go downstairs and try to nod off on the couch as not to disturb my partner, so I do exactly that in these dreams.

The issue arises at the first light switch. Either the light will offer a really dim glow or won’t come on at all when I hit the switch. The light switch has now become a sort of trigger for me along the lines of “Oh [insert blasphemy here] I’m dreaming”. At this moment I am fully lucid, fully aware I’m trapped in a dream. The mood of the dream changes instantly and I am drenched with fear. This is where it gets trippy. I know that ‘it’ knows I am aware, and it doesn’t like it . It’s just like a darkness that starts filling the room towards me, sometimes it laughs and speaks with a - I hate to be stereotypical, but - menacing tone, though I can’t remember anything it says. Accustomed to these dreams I’m usually screaming and shouting already rather than paying any attention to its dialogue. Over the years my pathetic “mmmhh” noises have grown to be more vocal screams, which is quite effective at waking my partner up.

I don’t know if this is my subconcious attacking the fully aware concious part of me, being like “This is my domain and you shouldn’t be here” or, well, I wouldn’t want to speculate.

Anyone had anything similar that can shine a light on what this is. (Providing the light turns on). I am happy to accept “just a bad dream”

As I was saying before I used to have what I describe as a witch laugh, cackle in my ear and wake me up quite often from about 8 to 10 years old, she would hold be down and roughly tickle me. I really believe this was a seperate entity as it started when they knocked a chimney down that was in my room. That's when a lot of paranormal horrors started in my home growing up.

I genuinely do believe that environmental changes can be a factor in the manifestation of paranormal activity. As a species we reconstruct the environment a lot, yet we’re not inundated with reports of every new house harbouring a poltergeist (Not great marketing to drive real estate investment), so it makes you wonder what are the specifics? As the old hag tends to appear to people under stress/emotionally weak, which I’m guessing as an 8 year old you didn’t have the weight of the world on your shoulders, it does sound like this entity was indeed something else. Stone tape theory? Previous resident who had an affinity toward the chimney... well, the house the way it was. Was the house on a ley line and this restructure disrupted the flow? This kind of relationship between structure and paranormal activity fascinates me and I wish I had the means to research it (Bigelow fund me please) like do we sometimes accidentally build a specific structure that acts like a receiver for something or even causes hallucinations? Too far out?

Don't know much about ley lines but the house was 5 generations of my family, in Sydney Australia. My grandfather and great grandfather were SP bookies and who knows what went on in the home back in the day. I agree with the changes, I had my most horrifying experience at a mates old house he was renovating. I won't go into it too much but I was thrown upside down into a wall. this happened over 30 years ago but it still scares me like it was yesterday.

I think I speak for all of us here when I say if any of us were thrown upside down into a wall we wouldn’t be forgetting or reflecting back on it light heartidly. That sounds terrifying beyond words. Sounds like there’s a lot of history to your family home and I’m guessing some parts omitted from history. Ontop of that the folklore of the Aborigines to draw on as well. Did anyone else in your family experience anything in that house?

Only my young brother, he passed away at 23 due mostly I believe to what we experienced in the home. I struggled dealing with the paranormal since a young kid until I joined here and have learnt to deal with it from the support of the members on here.

I can't elaborate too much as is the policy here of not feeding the demons which I believe is true and understand.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear that, I can only apologise for bringing things up. Please let me know if I’m ever stepping out of line or drilling too much. I can fully appreciate the importance of stemming away from feeding the demons. Light talk from here.

No you're right mate, I've had plenty of positive, beautiful things happen too, same as normal life I suppose.

Regular normal spooky stuff is fine, Tomy. We just avoid doing demonics. We allowed that once upon a time here and we honestly had some issues. We delve deep into the unknown, but avoid feeding the bad guys.
