New here but freaked out over this pic on my c

iPhone camera shutters can be pretty touchy. I’m a regular content creator on YouTube (I film with an iPhone SE or my iPad mini 4) and when filming I might think I was recording but my iPhone thought I double tapped so I’m talking when I wasn’t recording. The shutter and volume rocker button can be touchy too so if these pictures were taken 5-10 seconds apart, it could have been a glitch or you grazed the shutter or volume button. It happens. I’ve found that in the past 3 iOS updates have been a bit buggy.

But the bigger issue is how can we identify what is in this picture. Does this resemble anything that’s in the room where you took the picture of the mantle? Even with the posibility of this being a technical issue it’s still strange that we don’t know what the picture is.
Yes very odd, It reminds me of a figure of an evil man or something behind bars I see a nose and eyes

It's unfortunate the unknown image was deleted. I know nothing about IPhones, but is there anyway to get the photo back? Do deleted items/photos go into some registry or file where they can be recalled? Not apples to apples, but I can remember our IT guys back in the day recovering deleted files/data from desk tops.

Charlie are you saying you think the photo could have been taken inadvertently if the shuttle button was "grazed"?

As for what it is, I was looking at that this afternoon. If you look at the mantel photo, on the right side of the image you will see a photo (of a child?) in what appears to be a purple, oval shaped frame. To the left of that purple frame, there is a framed item that looks to be framed into a larger frame with something like a cobblestone background. The smaller/inner framed item looks like a mirror. If it is, that opens interesting possibilities if a photo was indeed inadvertently taken.

As soon as I saw it my first reaction was to delete it -all I saw was a demon in chains -maybe my imagination. I am interested in paranormal shows and books but don’t mess with Ouija boards. It scared me that this hadn’t happened before but could b glitch. Not sure if i can retrieve it and not sure if I want to!

OK, That's fine. Just looking to establish time interval between the two images.

What about the framed item inside the larger frame? Is it a mirror?

There isn't enough evidence for this to be "labled" as paranormal. My Iphone does it at times.....you leave your finger on the button just a half a second longer than needed and another photo gets taken. I can see why this would creep you out but I would advise you to work through the fear and then let it go.
Maybe writing down your experiences will help you develope a full picture of what, if anything, is happening.

Ligh&Love

Yes. I know from experience that it’s pretty easy to touch your finger to the screen without realizing it. Done so countless times. Also I’ve noticed that iPhones are getting more touchy with every update.

Yes there is mirror on right side of mantel

OK, so combining Charlie's comment about the apparent ease of inadvertently clicking off an IPhone photo with the fact there is a mirror on the mantel, my next question is did you approach the mantel/mirror immediately before or after taking the mantel photo?

Images in mirrors when seen (photographed?) from oblique angles can be distorted, the degree of distortion came be a function of several variables including distance, age, lighting, materials, craftsmanship etc. For this distortion to offer a possible explanation for the mystery image, however, would have required you to have had the camera just inches from the mirror at a pronounced oblique angle relative to the plane of the mirror. If you did not have the phone close to, but at an angle from, the mirror, this theory is unlikely.

Excellent deduction Duke. I was looking for similar colors and shapes on the mantel that could have been reflected some way too. My thoughts exactly. Paradoila may be a factor too cuz I do see the creepy figure. I’d have scared myself too.

Hi Kaye, welcome.

Makes sense but I stood in same spot where I snapped photo then looked at camera roll and saw creepy guy-did not go anywhere near mirror
