Our show tonight is about aliens...what they are. Which begs the question, what do YOU think they are? Take the poll and tell me WHY you believe what you do about them!
For some, but there are a lot of cases where the 'aliens' seem to be going out of their way to draw attention to themselves and then identify themselves as aliens from another world. Just how many times can a flying saucer handily break down where just one or two people will see it? And then there are all the times where they buzz airbases or appear to people and announce themselves. If this is the case then they have the crappiest invisibility cloaks in and out of fiction! While I think that some are hiding and are very good at it I don't think it can be universally true as their approach to hiding would be like declaring an annual Hiding Parade and posting on Facebook not to tell anybody that it was in Picadilly Circus, London and then randomly breaking into peoples' bedrooms wearing t-shirts saying "Ssshh, I'm in hiding" and telling the terrified person that they haven't seen them and not to tell anyone about the hiding parade.I believe that Aliens have captured the ability to travel through space and time. They are seen only when they want to be seen or when something has gone wrong with their invisibility cloak
Excellent visual for your statement, Cog!
Complicated question and the answer is confused both by people explaining various things as aliens and by different groups using aliens as a handy cover story.

I'm pretty sure that human groups including various military and intelligence agencies have staged events and promoted belief in alien visitors as a useful cover for covert weapons and vehicle development. Good article here:
The DeLonge DeLusion: Part Two | Mysterious Universe
It's part 2 of 3 but the intriguing sounding part 3 never arrived. Oh well. Part 2 is the relevant bit.
As for the real 'aliens', these seem possible candidates and they could be more than one of these.
1) Strange beings recorded throughout history as living alongside us on Earth such as the Fae, Djinn, gods, elementals, whatever. I have no idea which are real or how accurate anything is.
2) Something new which started in the 1940s and uses technology, notably advanced aircraft. I'm not convinced by attempts to link post 1930s flying machine reports with older stories and consider the reported characteristics of the craft in the best reports to be at odds with any possible secret project by any government. My best guess is a secretive human group with no connections to any government and an interest in applied science. This is never considered as it's supposedly plausible for a government to keep technology secret for 80 years but impossible for say, a very wealthy private group for some reason. I'd argue that any government that had aircraft that could fly like that 80 years ago would have used them in war since then! Previous secret planes like the F-117 and the U2 were soon discovered and announced publicly once they began to be used, but why would say, the Pentagon sit on something like this. For what purpose?
On the other hand private individuals who don't trust authority and have enough resources that they don't need more money at the cost of seeing the technology abused would and private groups are as good or better than governments at keeping secrets.
3) Another possibility is an unknown civilisation, either human or not human and unknown, small in number and based in a remote part of the world which is terrified of us and what we are doing, with pollution, our vast military machines and our nuclear weapons and has been trying to act in self defence (but not ours) from behind the scenes since the second world war. Why are so many alien encounters concerned with pollution and misuse of nuclear power? Perhaps because it's their world we are wrecking and endangering!
The 'aliens' have claimed to be from a multitude of different planets and other realms. This indicates that they are lying to prevent us from finding out where they are really from. The one place never mentioned is Earth, therefore....!
4) Or interdimensional beings although that would still make them Earth native but outside our usual field of view and so in line with 3.
