Yes, but this is a decision you have to make. Gun cases and safes are great - I have both. However, there are a lot more brazen home invasions while people are even home now. Unless you're literally carrying your gun or have very quick access to it, you won't have time to get it out of a locked case or safe. I don't have kids, so I have a few strategically places around the house. The others are kept in the gun safe.
