This topic is so far over my head I won’t even try to comment. I won’t upgrade until you all say it’s ok
Thanks, BC. This is good info to have for those of us who have tech deficits...lolI downloaded Windows 11 Insider Preview ISO using the instructions from here: How to Download Windows 11 Insider Preview ISO File
I downloaded VMware Workstation Player from here: VMware Workstation Player
You must be patient with the procedure for downloading the Windows 11 Insider Preview ISO. It takes the script that runs a long time to build the ISO. Your Windows security will also advise you not to download and run the script. But if you click on "more info" it gives you the option to proceed anyways. My Micro Trend software said the files and script were safe.
Windows Insider would not let me download Windows 11 directly from Microsoft even though I am a member. They said my machine was not compatible so that is why I downloaded the Insider Preview ISO from the first link. I didn't want to install it directly on my machine so that is why I downloaded the virtual machine software VMware. I could have install it directly on my machine using the instructions from this video: How to Bypass TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, and RAM Check
I installed Windows 11 and have it running in my virtual machine. It works fine on this computer and since you are installing it in VMware it does not even check for TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, and RAM. Now I can play with Windows 11 without worrying about mucking up my computer. It is working great and has been doing the updates like normal.
I'm glad I ordered this Windows 11 flash drive when I did, it is no longer available on ebay. Microsoft and ebay shut it down I guess. The flash drive came in yesterday and it worked great. The pc I'm using to post this message is the one I upgraded to Windows 11 from Windows 10 using the flash drive from ebay. All of my applications are still intact. I tried upgrading this pc with the ISO that came directly from Microsoft and it wouldn't upgrade, said the pc was not compatible with Windows 11. Seems like Microsoft is pushing Moore's Law on consumers forcing them to upgrade their hardware when it really isn't necessary. If you just want to buy Windows 11 installer that is already modified to work on your old hardware, here is a seller on ebay offering an option: Windows 11 64-bit 16GB Flash Drive - Legacy/UEFI, no TPM or Secure Boot Required
