What was your favorite part of returning to grade school?

Seeing friends not seen over the summer.

I loved seeing my friends, but there was a certain excitement about starting a fresh year with a new teacher! The possibilities were all there for a great year...or not! lol Only had one teacher I had a conflict with, and that was Mr. Van Dyke. The man had two of my cousins in class before me and seemed to have already decided he wasn't fond of me. I slowly won him over, but it wasn't my greatest year in grade school.

Loved my new box of crayons and all the new stuff. For about the first week, anyway. lol

I liked the smell of brand new shoes, and I hated having to cover all my books with either newspaper, or brown paper bag. I also liked new supplies like crayons, pens and pencils, etc.

I have not. I will have to look that up. I live about 8 miles from his grave. A place I used to work was right next to that cemetery. I used to see it all the time. He was actually from Texas.
