Our show tonight is about aliens...what they are. Which begs the question, what do YOU think they are? Take the poll and tell me WHY you believe what you do about them!

I believe that Aliens have captured the ability to travel through space and time. They are seen only when they want to be seen or when something has gone wrong with their invisibility cloak

Complicated question and the answer is confused both by people explaining various things as aliens and by different groups using aliens as a handy cover story.

For some, but there are a lot of cases where the 'aliens' seem to be going out of their way to draw attention to themselves and then identify themselves as aliens from another world. Just how many times can a flying saucer handily break down where just one or two people will see it? And then there are all the times where they buzz airbases or appear to people and announce themselves. If this is the case then they have the crappiest invisibility cloaks in and out of fiction! While I think that some are hiding and are very good at it I don't think it can be universally true as their approach to hiding would be like declaring an annual Hiding Parade and posting on Facebook not to tell anybody that it was in Picadilly Circus, London and then randomly breaking into peoples' bedrooms wearing t-shirts saying "Ssshh, I'm in hiding" and telling the terrified person that they haven't seen them and not to tell anyone about the hiding parade.

I'm pretty sure that human groups including various military and intelligence agencies have staged events and promoted belief in alien visitors as a useful cover for covert weapons and vehicle development. Good article here:
The DeLonge DeLusion: Part Two | Mysterious Universe
It's part 2 of 3 but the intriguing sounding part 3 never arrived. Oh well. Part 2 is the relevant bit.

As for the real 'aliens', these seem possible candidates and they could be more than one of these.

    1) Strange beings recorded throughout history as living alongside us on Earth such as the Fae, Djinn, gods, elementals, whatever. I have no idea which are real or how accurate anything is.

    2) Something new which started in the 1940s and uses technology, notably advanced aircraft. I'm not convinced by attempts to link post 1930s flying machine reports with older stories and consider the reported characteristics of the craft in the best reports to be at odds with any possible secret project by any government. My best guess is a secretive human group with no connections to any government and an interest in applied science. This is never considered as it's supposedly plausible for a government to keep technology secret for 80 years but impossible for say, a very wealthy private group for some reason. I'd argue that any government that had aircraft that could fly like that 80 years ago would have used them in war since then! Previous secret planes like the F-117 and the U2 were soon discovered and announced publicly once they began to be used, but why would say, the Pentagon sit on something like this. For what purpose?

On the other hand private individuals who don't trust authority and have enough resources that they don't need more money at the cost of seeing the technology abused would and private groups are as good or better than governments at keeping secrets.

    3) Another possibility is an unknown civilisation, either human or not human and unknown, small in number and based in a remote part of the world which is terrified of us and what we are doing, with pollution, our vast military machines and our nuclear weapons and has been trying to act in self defence (but not ours) from behind the scenes since the second world war. Why are so many alien encounters concerned with pollution and misuse of nuclear power? Perhaps because it's their world we are wrecking and endangering!

The 'aliens' have claimed to be from a multitude of different planets and other realms. This indicates that they are lying to prevent us from finding out where they are really from. The one place never mentioned is Earth, therefore....!

    4) Or interdimensional beings although that would still make them Earth native but outside our usual field of view and so in line with 3.

I voted extraterrestrial.....mainly because of the craft....perhaps they have found a way to use wormholes as a way of jumping the space time continuum or have some type of "star gates" in place..... I don't believe its a military/government project or experiment,(conspiracy)...( I do think that some military projects, craft, weapons, etc....may be mistaken for u.f.o's but there's not a connection with "real" aliens, if they exist),...there are very few actual military encounters I believe are authentic, the air base in Europe and the foo fighter stories are a couple examples I think were maybe real. but 99% of most stories I hear involving the military I seriously question...(actually heard an account of bigfoot and the military last summer, something about a downed chopper which led to a bigfoot attack...I don't believe it at all, i think that using the military is suppose to make ppl believe it without questioning.)
as far as demons, nephilim or inter-dimensional, why the craft, why the experiments,...too many why's that don't add up. the pattern thus far has been that of observation and study,...more of a scientific purpose than a spiritual one.

Not being flippant. What if aliens are from all of the above ? Multiple races, multiple modes of travel ? Multiple agendas ?
    Nice article Ben.

I don’t have much experience with UFOs - only one that is very tangential. So I am voting based upon outside observations only.

I chose not to vote for aliens as spirits. I think that because some visible UFO incidents are reported by multiple people, sometimes from different vectors, and sometimes visible on radar, I believe those to have a physical presence.

Now, it’s not that spirit might not manefest physically; but I don’t have any reason to believe that spirit would chose to take the shape specifically of flying saucers and triangles or little green or grey creatures.

Benway and Paintman are likely right too that all paranormal phenomena reported grossly as “UFO” activity might not be of a like paranormal source.

Benway’s point about the source of these sightings choosing to actively alter our perception of them has merit. I have a mundane experience that could roughly simulate an induced perceptual change. In the mid-80s, I was invited by the technicians at the hospital I was working with to attend their efforts to test and calibrate their first MRI. Now I have never had an MRI scan before nor after this event so I don’t know what the typical experience is supposed to be like. But I know with certainly when they powered up that MRI to nearly full power, my visual perception took a 90 degree tilt or swivel to the right; I was standing up but my perception of the entire room shifted clockwise such that I felt like I was laying on my side. And as the MRI was cycled on and off I felt that perception shifting back and forth from feeling nearly vertical and nearly 90 degrees again and again. (Don’t worry, I did immediately report this to the technicians there in case it was materially important to patient care and safety.). So in this case it appeared to me that very strong, localized magnetic waves did alter my perception. Separately, I’ve also felt once accidentally how a strong inadequately shielded electrical field can produce feelings of fear and paranoia.

So I believe it is possible for an outside source to knowingly use forces to manipulate our perceptions.

So here’s an idea about UFOs and Aliens that I could certainly get behind based upon my significant psychical experiences. I have seen future events - either clearly or slightly skewed at times - literally hundreds of times; so I have 100% personal confidence that seeing events at alternate points on what we perceive as a timeline is possible. I don’t know how my psi function works, I only know that it does. So I can make a leap to accept that “controlled” time travel is also possible.

With that said, maybe our perception of a flying saucer could be sightings of active human time traveling “machines”. I could even accept that people might not be seeing an actual physical device but instead psychically perceiving same instead. By that I mean, maybe time machines don’t physically move through time but instead those machines might induce psychic time travel for those inside and then outsiders in our point on the timeline can reasonably perceive those machines’ physical structures. Maybe those machines - rooms, structures, etc. - don’t even fly in their point on the timeline but when arriving/projecting into our own point on the timeline they aren’t limited by our physics so they can fly or land. (This last musing won’t fit easily with the instances where UFOs are seen sitting on the ground on landing struts that seem to leave physical depressions on the ground nor evidence of engine blasts. What it does fit into though is the often reports that the “object moved silently”. It might also support so many claims of the aliens communicating with outside observers psychically. [Edited to add in that this musing might also explain why/how the reported UFOs often make wild turns and move at incredible speeds even accelerating from a dead stop.])
