Hopefully she has a lot of blankets and they get her heat on soon.I have been trying to convince her to go to one of the shelters for keeping warm, but she tells me that lot of scary people are allowed in, often becoming violent.

With freezing temps can always store food in a cooler outside (out of freezing rain) to keep from spoiling. It's amazing how fast in an ice storm something can become encased. Not fun at all. Fireplaces or wood stoves were essential in those climates. Briefly used kerosene heaters long ago and those things were just horrible and dangerous. But, did the trick as a last resort. My daughter and grand daughter live in Oregon, and they are in the middle of an ice storm and freezing temps. Their power has gone out she is worried about food spoilage.
Thank goodness!Just got a text; the power is back on at my daughter's place.
