Isn't 1.500 responses a little small for 40.000 recipients?

Either way I personally lost hope that academia is equipped to deal with the paranormal in general, including UFOs. It just seems too dodgy and too intelligent of a phenomena to even start pinning down.

eh, shows that 38500 just hit delete and sent it to the trash file.... like the general population who watch the many shows on the paranormal, whether it be cryptids, ghosts, or UFO's. the majority see it as only entertainment, maybe a mild curiosity or they "want" to believe, but in the end 95% have never had any type of experiance, so are in all reality non-believers. sure, they "want" to believe, they want to have a mystery to uncover. but the mystery is what it is all about. without the mystery, the adrenaline pump, the fear of whats in the dark, the woods, the sky, very few would be interested or care. for most its a hobby and curiosity to fill a season of life, until something new comes along. so the science field sees it as this and chooses to stay away for the most part. its become a form of entertainment that is dismissed after interest wanes and that is the downside of all the popularity.

And then there are a few of us, like many here, who have made it a life long quest to learn more and see it as a part of our spiritual path. We may be in the minority, but we are out here. I'm 70 years of age...the wonder of it all has never faded for me.

indeed. there are those like us who have had experiances and were left with a knowing of there is something more to the world than just whats on the surface. especially those who have abilities, though the quest at first was just to understand ourselves better, and then with what else may be over the horizon, and it is a never ending quest. once your mind is opened and you take that first serious step it seems there is no turning back. but for the majority of people, what we consider normal is not the same for them. they will never see or feel what we see and feel, they will never have the "normal" that we know..... and for most the interest will wane, to be replaced with newcomers who are interested or curious, all we can do is watch for those who do "know" and try to guide them along the way......

Good point Paul, the real indicator is the number of people that chose not to participate. The ones who responded already have an interest and thus it skews the results.

Yeah people not taking it seriously enough is probably part of it.
