very perceptive BC, I agreeFrom a basic cursory viewing of the carvings, they appear to be used by the ancients to charge water in a ritualistic sense. The water would be poured by a monk/priest/priestess over the center protrusion then collected as it poured from the trough like spout. This water would function to cleanse/bless people, especially prior to a dangerous excursion.
