In a puzzling story out of Minnesota, authorities are at a loss to explain a weird incident wherein the night sky was lit up by a flash that was followed by a boom after experts indicated that the event was not caused by a meteor.

Sounded like an old cannon, Like from the civil war era. I went to many re-enactments. That's my guess :

Probably a good guess, could be that large tool chest that got loose a couple weeks ago. I was thinking just regular lightening followed by thunder.
