The Castles in Scotland and Ireland appear to have quite a few spirits in them. I wonder if it's because of the stone buildings?

I would think the stone would be a factor. Remember that picture of the house I posted a few years back, and it was made of stone? Just driving past it gave me the willies.

its thought that stone (and water to an extent) may be able to "record" past activity if the energy was strong or traumatic enough. so, not really a "haunting" where you or it could interact, but one that its basically a recording of the event playing over and over.....it is what is known as a "residual haunting".
