The case of Clara Cele took place in Natal, South Africa in 1906. At the age of sixteen, it was believed that she made a pact with the Devil which resulted in her becoming possessed. When approached by Father Horner Erasmus (and witnessed by several others), it was documented that she was able to speak in languages previously unknown to her. Some of the languages she understood was Polish, German and French (among various others) yet she had no exposure to these languages before.
Clara was also able to demonstrate clairvoyance by revealing very intimate secrets of people witnessing her possession that she had never met before. When presented with blessed and religious objects, she would exhibit significant rage and ferocity, as well as exhibiting incredible physical strength by hurling nuns across the room. Her cries were described as nothing that was never heard before. One nun described her cries as "a herd of wild beasts orchestrated by Satan had formed a hellish choir".
It was also reported she was able to levitate, sometimes up to a height of five feet. Her exorcism took two days before it was successful, which after she was deemed free of the demon and she was finally healed.
