I still maintain the "Johnny Bravo" theory*. The company doesn't give two hoots about Noory. He was in the right place at the right time to fill a spot (the suit fit) that was vacant on a show that was on auto-pilot once Art got it up and running, and there was an interest and need for the show in a late-night time slot competing against infomercials.

The Brady Bunch: Season 5, Episode 1
Adios, Johnny Bravo

A talent agent signs Greg to become a rock star named "Johnny Bravo." Greg lets his new fame get to his head, until he discovers that he was only signed because he "fit the suit."
