Today, the Google banner recognizes Fridtjof Nansen who was a Norwegian explorer, scientist, diplomat, humanitarian, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate. In his youth he was a champion skier and ice skater. [Source Wikipedia]

Born October 10, 1861
Died: May 13, 1930, Lysaker, Norway
Awards: Nobel Peace Prize, Cullum Geographical Medal, Patron's Gold Medal

Some of his quotes:

I demolish my bridges behind me...then there is no choice but to move forward

It is better to go skiing and think of God, than go to church and think of sport.

The difficult is what takes a little time; the impossible is what takes a little longer.

I especially like the last quote.

Rain here. Nat's Cubs game may get canceled. High winds coming by game time. From Northeast. So blowing in to home plate. Don't expect any home runs.
California fires burned a golf course that hosted a tournament this weekend.

Jad is surrounded by these fires. She's safe for now and not expecting them to come her direction, but she says they are extreme. The description she gave is frightening.

Rain here, too, Paint, but no wind.
