X-Men like mutants in 5 years?

I am always puzzled when people express a desire to live a long time. Even school must let out eventually!
i think the only way i would want to live hundreds of years is if aging could be dramatically slowed... like, only aging 1 year for every 5 to 10 years lived. just extending life scientifically but still aging doesnt sound too appealing

Good point, Paulm. Unless everyone that you cared about was aging slowly as well, why would we want to stick around and watch everyone else die?

I remember reading work of fiction about a family who somehow found a way to stay young. The mother and her two children ended up having to move frequently, because friends and neighbors would wonder why they weren't getting any older. It could go wrong in so many ways!

From a different perspective, I will tell you why living that long would not be a good thing.
I am now 72, and there are many times my older friends and I have said, "We've outlived our own world. It's gone, and I'm having trouble adapting and accepting this new version."

It's a real thing.

I'm getting there. Some things about the current generation I just don't get and it seems to get more alien to me the older that I get. Even if I were in excellent health, I still wouldn't want to hang around longer than necessary.

It's probably good to feel this way, I do too. Maybe a bit sad but I'm glad I won't be around long enough to see how bad it's going to get for humans the way everything is going around the world. I do worry for the younger generations but I suppose they will never know how much better it was in the old days.

I imagine every generation has experienced this. The world is ever changing and is not slowing down anytime soon. I can picture when all the current 'influencers' will be obsolete and forgotten and replaced by the AI companions. With people the biggest problem is, the young step over the old and the old step on the young. Vicious cycle that keeps going round and round. Sad part is each can learn from the other but, the communication gap always gets in the way.
