Where should our money go?

When I saw this today, it reminded me of a situation I'm familiar with. I have a relative who is mentally ill and homeless. When she tried to get into a homeless shelter, it was full. There are also no group homes for the mentally ill in my state. Many of the homeless have mental illnesses or have for some reason or another found themselves to be out in the elements.

The question arises....where should the money go? What is our priority in society? Helping our fellow man or using tax payer dollars to build stadiums for teams who make mega bucks already?
