It's winter and many of us are caught in the house. Let's take a virtual trip! This is a big world and many of you have traveled it a bit. Tony's thread about his hitchhiking days got me thinking....Where have you been? If you are in the US, how many states have you seen? Countries? What were your favorite spots?

Are you a good traveler or bad? Favorite way to get there? Funny adventures? Tell me your stories!

I haven’t traveled much, although I’d love to. I’ve traveled from Mi to the east coast and a few states on the way to Oklahoma. I’ve flown to Florida. I live my life pretty much in a 50 mile range of home. I will live through others travels.

I've been to KY, TN, GA, FL, MO, IL, Arkansas, New Mexico, AZ, Texas, Utah, Nevada, and across the line to Mexico (which I would never do again! Yikes!). Also Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, DC, and Virginia.

My travels in a 40 foot Class A RV were memorable. And I would not want to do it again. ;) (Glad I didn't sell the house! lol The RV lifestyle should be tried before committing to it full time...trust me!)

Focusing just on the USA to be brief, I’ve been to every state at least once, to most of them at least twice, and to many of them a dozen times or more. For example, I was in Indianapolis four times in six consecutive weeks for unrelated reasons.

I like home best...then Hawaii next best.

I just remember when I flew into Alaska - that’s a state I’ve been too just once - it was nighttime and there was a polar bear running on the tarmac.

It was amazing because as a passenger, I couldn’t see forward ahead of the plane - only sideways out the windows along the fuselage so I didn’t know what was coming up. The plane was about 25’ off the ground as it was just about to pass by the bear; and, the planes’ lights lit up the bear for just a couple of seconds. I was like, “Did I really just see a polar bear!?”

Wow that is remarkable ! What an interesting life you’ve led. I had hoped to travel but I don’t see that happening. Do you still travel a lot ?

Yikes! I saw a dog, I assumed a stray, running around the tarmac at Punta Cana Airport in the DR. No one seemed to pay any attention to it.

What fascinated me were the items people carried on board airliners with expectations of stowing them in overheads. I had a guy try to put a bowling ball in the overhead over my head, but after I brought it to the attention of the flight attendant she made him stow it under the seat. He was not happy. Strangest thing I ever saw was a tasseled lamp shade some gal carried on to a flight to Moscow.
