What is this mystery beast photographed in Maine?

looks kike a fisher paws tail snout is short tho could be angle .
 
I've told the story here previously about the very weird looking critter I shot after it chased my Mom around the yard. It took a game warden to identify it was a ground hog with mange, and probably distemper.
 
I thought it looked like a beaver and that it was probably running by the camera, which caused a distortion.
