I've had a lot of paranormal experiences although they mostly stopped once I got to the age of about 18.

Grew up in a huge very old english mansion and at an early age heard walking above our bedroom, regular like a week on week off for the entire time I was there (12 years).

It would walk across from one side of the attic above us to the the far corner, then a latch and door would sound the steps would walk through and then it would stop. Just about every time it would come back, same sounds a few hours later and that would be it for the night. Oh edit.. There was no door up there.

Cant list all of the things but saw flashes of light around me at times, heard occasional voices (once every few years), saw a silent large ball of red light in the forest come right up to me, saw a small black box fly through my house, lots of stuff and many with other people there to.

But point is I've come to wonder if these things have affected me - because simply my life has become a nightmare since those days.
These things always fascinated me, so I think I pursued them - perhaps not knowing what they might to do to me. For me it was a 'way to enlightenment' - I felt I got to the precipice but was always too scared to walk through.

So... Yeah I don't know, looking for some advice, someone who has been in the same position, can you tell me what your thoughts are, do these 'things' ruin peoples lives? Because maybe that's what happened to me and my brother.

Thanks.

First, welcome to PNF! A lot of members here have experienced many strange things as well, so you are in good company. Whether these things can ruin your life is not for me to say. I am what is called a sensitive, and have found that keeping grounded and shielded is all I have control over.

Could you tell us a bit about yourself, and could you elaborate on what happened to you and your brother?

I have had experiences since I was 5 years old, and I have lived in several locations where there was activity. While I will say that some people may have had their lives affected, those cases seem to usually be due to lack of proper protection practices, prior to engaging in paranormal "investigations". By just simply experiencing paranormal activity, I have doubts that it would ruin someone's life. If the happenings scared you enough, I can see where it may have an effect on you personally. As Garnet said, more information may help.

Hi PD, and welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear you've had troubles, but one particular thing you said really caught my attention. Would you please go into more detail about you having "pursued" certain paranormal or occult pursuits? Are we talking Ouija boards, seances, etc?

Hi all,

Yeah they really scared me - not all things but some things really shook me up. I couldn't sleep well for a few years after I was 18. As far as pursuing - I just found it fascinating and exciting, and wanted more and more to happen until the last thing that happened, which scared the crap out of me and it pretty much stopped after that. Before that I felt like I could encourage things to happen - I knew where to put my thoughts/feelings to make something happen if that makes sense. Who knows if that's how it worked but I felt it did.

Our (my bro and I) lives changed drastically after this time period and also my friend's who was there for one of the most strange events - the black box. He cried in fear after it happened and wouldn't leave until the sun came up.

Yes grounded is the one best thing I have found but I think the events really instilled a deep fear in me. It was right at a very turbulent time in my life, and perhaps in concert with everything else going on it just gave me some ptsd or something.

Hope I make sense - had about 7 hours sleep in last 3 days. (Work related lol).

Kind Regards all

Welcome to the PNF Peace Dog. Sorry to hear these things are affecting your life. Everyone is unique, so each may respond differently after their experiences. I had a period in my life where something 'followed' me around and it took some years before i managed to make it stop (knock on wood). It has not returned, but once you start having experiences, it is pretty rare for them to stop completely. I say this so often i feel i am a broken record, but we are beacons to these things. Whether they feed off our energy or attracted to our 'light', i can't say for certain. Sensitives are more prone to 'see' these things. Perhaps you are a sensitive. Our emotions only strengthen that beacon. Some say meditation can help. I believe deep down we know what we have to do. Again, all unique. Only way i have dealt with this was to hit it head on. You are in control of your environment. You also have control over your self. Some experiences can be frightening yes, but i try to look at them as learning experiences. I feel they are gifts that offer a glimpse into things far beyond us. I've had a terrible month and remaining positive and well, true to myself has helped. There may be bad things happening that just keep knocking you back, but there is also good. Focus on that good and things will improve. I have been through the ringer and back again through my life. I spent my time being angry at pretty much everything. That wasn't working. Sure there will be times when things get trapped in the muck yet again. That is the reality of life. Sucks, i know, believe me. Been there. Done that. Still doing that. Keeping positive and laugh every single damn day is a tremendous help. Music for me is a great way to keep things at an even keel. Helping others to the best of my ability is another way to keep a positive light on things. That's about the only advice i can offer. Not gonna pretend i know what you've been through, just hope it lends ideas to your situation. On a lighter note, being 123 of age could be a bit taxing as well ;bg2

im sure some one can give ideas or possible help, but it feels as though something is missing. there are elements of a possible "haunting" or spirit activity, and elements of a possible abilities or loss of such. you state you pursued this as a way to enlightenment. the problem here is that abilities and the other side of the realm are usually not combined. (you dont cross the veil to enhance abilities or gain strength.. or to regain abilities, that side has nothing to do with the other), (regardless of what is seen on TV or in the movies).. how did you pursue this line of interest?, spirit boards?, seances?.. etc...being tricked or led or voluntarily dabbling in the dark side is not a way to enlightenment of any sort. im not saying that is the routes you may have taken, but that info can help others know what they are really dealing with, and what advice to give...when asking for help in these topics nothing can be held back. why do you think that this has or may have "ruined" your life? if most has stopped when you reached 18, how has it affected you since?......

EDITED TO ADD: I wrote this last night but didnt post it....or it didnt post... now that others have asked a few questions a better (little) picture is forming..... what do you think? what are your ideas on this?, do you feel as though there are abilities involved or just a "haunting" type encounter.... give us a little more info to think about.

Peace Dog, I know everyone would like to help you, however, you are being very vague on what kind of experience you had. And although I've read your responses several times, I'm still not sure of what specific question(s) you have. If you want to know if researching information alone will cause you harm, probably not. But all of this is connected to what has already happened to you and what you may have already "dabbled" in. A bit more info would be helpful to guide you, if that's what you are looking for.

Well stated Debi, and was what I was thinking also.

Welcome to the forum Peace Dog. There are a lot of educated and experienced people here and we are willing to help, but you have to be forthcoming with what is really going on before we can comment on it. I think everyone so far has given you as much as we can with what we know.
